Yoga Portraits – London

Iv been building quite a yoga portrait portfolio since I finished my Teacher training last year, here is the most recent shoot I have done with the beautiful and extremely powerful Kathy Lewis.  Kathy is lucky enough to live on a stunning house boat on the Thames in London.  We made these pics on the deck of her boat at sunset one balmy summer eve, seems like an age away now – its 6pm and already getting dark….although i am up in Orkney where the nights are fairly drawing in :)

Underwater photography album cover

Iv finally had a some time to catch up on a HUGE backlog of editing from some very exciting work that I have shot recently, and it feels good to catch up! This is a sneak peak of an underwater photo shoot I did for an amazing musician/artist, the album is going to be out soon and I cant wait to see the final results!

Couple Shoot – Manchester – Rosie & Sean

I traveled up to Manchester to Photograph Rosie and Sean a couple of months before their wedding.  We were ready with umbrellas as the forecast was to rain as soon as I arrived in Manchester and stop when I got back on the train (obviously) – but to our delight, the sun came out at the exact right moment…Hurray!

We went a stroll to the St John’s centre in Old Trafford where they are having the reception and then on to a beautiful hidden wild meadow, which was glorious and full of yellow buttercups, by the wedding day I think it will be more like a forest.  They were an absolute pleasure to photograph, It was so much fun, and Dexter the dog came with us.  I cannot wait to photograph their wedding day, it really sounds like its going to be a dream day!

Cotton Farming India – The Guardian

A long term documentary project I shot in India last year on the issues that cotton farmers are facing was published in the Global development section of the guardian last week – you can have a look at it here – http://www.theguardian.com/global-development/gallery/2014/may/05/india-cotton-suicides-farmer-deaths-gm-seeds

An elderly woman picking cotton in a field in Yavatmal, India. Cotton picking is arduous work, Workers spend long hours in the sweltering heat and direct sunshine picking cotton to supply developed countries with cheap, disposable fashions. Earning a minimal wage which is not enough to keep them out of poverty. Although the cotton is soft, the boll's which hold the cotton are sharp and the nature off picking it means that the workers hands get repetitively struck and cut, Her fingers are red raw and bleeding from this work. The primary product manufactured from cotton is clothing, which accounts for some 60% of the world's total cotton production. European and North American consumers account for around 75% of world clothing imports.
